Dear Idaho Chess Community,
|
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Jeff Price, and I recently assumed the role of President of the Idaho Chess Association (ICA). I'm writing to personally reach out after a period of silence and to share where we stand as we move forward together.

A Note on Recent Changes & Our Path Forward
|
Following the resignation of the former president and the entire board, I was elected alongside three of our four regional Trustees to help stabilize and rebuild our association. While we've been working diligently behind the scenes, I want to sincerely apologize for the lack of communication over the past several weeks. This silence was not intentional, and we are committed to transparency and regular updates moving forward.
|
As part of our rebuilding phase, we are taking immediate steps to restore the association's standing. We are currently working to re-establish our non-profit status and regain our 501(c)(3) designation, which was lost under the previous administration. Restoring this status is a top priority, as it will allow us to accept tax-deductible donations, apply for grants, and secure the long-term financial health of the ICA. Your continued support and membership are vital to this process.

We Want Your Voice Guiding ICA's Future
|
As we rebuild, we believe the direction of the Idaho Chess Association should be driven by its members. We are looking not just for help, but for ideas.
|
- What do you want to see from the ICA in the next year?
- What programs, events, or initiatives are missing?
- How can we better serve players of all ages and skill levels across Idaho?
Please share your thoughts, suggestions, and vision for our organization. We want to hear from you. Send your ideas to info@idahochess.net.
|
To ensure strong representation across Idaho, we still have important positions to fill:
|
- Three officer positions remain open
- One additional Trustee position (South Idaho region)
- Tournament Directors needed for all four regions: West, South, East, and North
If you are interested in serving in any of these capacities, please email us at info@idahochess.net.

We also have exciting plans for a Chess Camp in development, and we'll be sharing more details soon. Additionally, we are seeking volunteers for various roles to help make our events successful. If you'd like to contribute your time and energy, please let us know at info@idahochess.net.
