This newsletter serves as official notice of an upcoming Idaho Chess Association Board Meeting scheduled for August 31, 2026 at 7:00 PM Mountain Time. This meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. Link here: (lCA Board Meeting).

As communicated in our May 13, 2026 transition announcement, the ICA Board declared its intent to dissolve the corporation. This August 31st meeting represents what may be the final Board Meeting of the Idaho Chess Association, during which we will vote on a formal Resolution to Dissolve the Legal Entity and determine the disposition of remaining ICA assets.

BACKGROUND & CONTEXT
Why This Matters
In March 2026, the ICA Board elected new leadership. Upon review, the new Board concluded that continuing operations as the ICA was no longer viable due to circumstances inherited from the previous administration. The Board acted in the best interest of members and the Idaho chess community to ensure responsible closure of the organization.

Continuity of Service (March – May 2026)

Following the March 2026 elections, the new ICA Board remained committed to serving Idaho's chess community throughout the transition period. During this time, the Board continued to host four major tournaments:

These events ensured uninterrupted chess programming for Idaho members while organizational decisions were being finalized.

Since May 18, 2026, the Idaho Chess Network (ICN) has operated all chess programs, tournaments, and memberships without disruption. The ICN is currently pending final USCF State Affiliate approval with conditional status granted by the SAC.

Per ICA Constitution Article III: Legal Status, this notice was sent to all ICA members at least 21 days prior to the meeting. This satisfies the constitutional requirement for Board action affecting legal status changes.

The Idaho Chess Association has served our community for many years. While this legal entity will be dissolved, chess continues. The Idaho Chess Network carries forward the mission of promoting chess education, competition, and community for all Idaho players—scholastic, senior, competitive, and recreational.
