Interested in helping grow chess across Idaho? The Idaho Chess Network (dba Idaho Chess Federation) is recruiting and training new Tournament Directors to launch dozens of rated tournaments statewide — and you don’t need to be a Grandmaster to get involved.

In this introductory online session, we’ll cover:

• What a Tournament Director does — managing pairings, enforcing rules, and overseeing event logistics at USCF-rated tournaments.
• How to get certified — we’ll walk through the USCF Club Level TD application process and SafeSport safety training requirements.
• The ICN Mentor Program — every new TD is paired with an experienced mentor who guides them through their first tournaments.
• Why we need you — our strategy is built on a wide network of directors sharing the workload, preventing burnout, and ensuring sustainability for years to come.

This class is ideal for parents, teachers, players, and community organizers who want to bring official rated chess to their local area. Whether you’re looking to start a school club, run library events, or simply give back to the chess community, this session will get you started on the path to certification.

No prior directing experience required — just a passion for chess and a desire to help your community.
